Every PF9 app is a container and a database. Most people should let me host it — that's what the monthly price covers, and it's live the same day. But if your data can't leave your building, you can run the same software on your own hardware.

When the app is close but not right
Start from one of the apps above and change it, or build something that doesn't exist yet. I've done it — one manufacturing client runs a heavily modified build on their own cloud, and has for over a year.
Most people. If you don't already have someone who patches Linux boxes, hosting it yourself trades a $29 bill for a server that's now your problem at 2am. Self-hosting is the right answer for one reason: a policy, a contract or an insurer says the data can't sit on someone else's machine. If that's not you, take the hosted version — it's cheaper, it's faster to start, and I'm the one who gets paged.
Every project is different, so I quote each one — but I'm not going to make you email me to find out the order of magnitude. Work is $125/hour. On-site is $200/hour with a four-hour minimum.
